Huntington Beach

This is my favorite photo of the whole So Cal trip. I just love Ben's cute smile. I love how his eyes disappear, just like his Dad's do, when HE smiles! Ben was so thrilled to be at the beach!

And then, in the true spirit of Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde that we know as BEN, he was ANGRY one second after that CUTE picture because his sleeves were rolled TOO high. Brother. He's a Moody little sucker!
Emma, Hillary and Katrina (with her babydoll) checking out the surf.

Emma, showing off for the surfers.

Rachel, just DARING the sea to conquer her!

She was the only one that got soaked! Poor little thing! She really enjoyed the time we spent, even though she fell in!

Josh and Katrina both gathered shells to make designs in the sand.

Ben trying to do what they did, only not so good with the design part.

A final parting shot . . . Goodbye California!

We spent a total of 36 hours in the car. The kids were great and the drive was pleasant (having Hillary along was a saving grace!)

We did find that Books on Tape (CD, really) are great for kids over 8. We listened to 10 hours of the first HARRY POTTER book and started the second, on our last leg of the trip! Damian hadn't ever read the books and he loved listening as much as the rest of us. Katrina and Rachel watched Barbie movies on the TVs (thanks cousins for the loaner TVs!)

Ben mostly just vegged in front of Josh's ipod the last day of driving. Josh had downloaded some of Ben's favorites (Tom and Jerry and Nacho Libre) and Ben stayed busy for hours playing with the "i POT" as he calls it.

This is my second favorite picture from the trip:

He looks so grown up, I love how he has his Skittles propped between his legs and he's navigating the menu like a teenager!

Thanks for your posts of your trip! How fun!! Too bad I wasn't your babysitter!! :) I couldn't have gone on the rides though...being pregnant and all!! What troopers...staying in the rain! Is the next trip bringing all your kids to Disney World!?! :)

Love all the pictures! Do you photo shop them at all or just post them. HB is a great beach to leave a happy feeling about California in your heart.

PS - I sure hope that one of our kids marries the other. We'll have to plan family trips together in the teenager years. :)

How is it possible that the beach can make your kids even cuter? Love all the pictures from your trip. Although you are making me very Disneyland homesick!

Wait a minute, that picture of Emma flexing seems familiar. She is your mini me.
Are those new pictures of the kids on your sidebar? They are all so cute.
I am anxious for when our kids will listen to books on tape with us for our long road trips to Utah, until then, it is movie after movie on the portable DVD player for the wee ones.
The beach looks fun and warm. I am ready for a vacation. A trip to Utah will have to suffice though.

Man, your kids are going to have one well documented life! I think you take more pictures of your kids in a week than I do all year! And then you even know how to photoshop everyone and make them look even cuter than before. Disgusting. We might have to oust you from motherhood for showing us all up! I love all the new family pictures - especially all the individuals of your kids, they are all so good looking!

I love that eye dissapearing shop of Ben at the top too! I don't think I realized how much he looks like Damian. What a beautiful family, and the beach is always such a fun place for pictures!
