I watched an Oldie but Goodie on my new, wonderful TiVo today. I have a cold and decided to VEG after dinner while the kids played with cousins at Grandmas and Damian was at his LAST City Planning Commission meeting.
It was a party for myself, celebrating a return of my husband. I love sharing him with the Lord for Church Work, but dread the nights he's gone on City Business. I think he's served one night a month for 3 years on that thing. He used to be on the Board of Directors for a local Spanish Health Clinic, but that term ended last year.
OK, back to the movie. This is such a great movie . . . now, I don't know if it had a lot of swearing in it's original form, on the TiVo it was cleaned up to PG and it was wonderful.
It's s beautiful, emotional love story between the characters played by John Travolta and Kyra Sedgwick. It's more than that though. The message is one about treating others kindly, not matter their differences and celebrating how each of us are unique.
I saved it. We are getting a DVD burner for Christmas and I've been saving all my favorites to record and watch with my girls, when they are old enough. You probably saw this in '96 when it came out, but it's worth watching again.

Haha, this was the first movie I saw in a theatre with a boy. It was pretty good, I will have to watch it again. I have been absent from blogging for awhile and just had to go back through all of your posts!! Disneyland looked like a ton of fun. What did Erik think of the babysitter? Any little romance there? How much do you pay someone for a babysitting job like that? I guess you pay for them to go on an awesome trip, right? What a good idea. Especially if she is going to do all that girl hair.
The wedding looked beautiful, I want to see more pictures though? Was the whole family there?
I didn't know Damian was on the planning commission-- good job to him. So many good things are happening in Central Point right now-- the artisan corridor, the Anytime Fitness building, reconfiguring traffic on Pine St. The quality of downtown has improved so much. When we first drove through town 5 years ago, the storefronts all seemed to be bars or Tae Kwon Do dojos. Two thumbs up for a job well done!
I'll have to watch that one when you record it. Hope you get feeling better soon. Tiff
I love that movie!
Hope you feel better.
My Mom would watch Phenomenon with you anytime you'd like. I'd like to see your version on one of our next visits to Oregon. Are you feeling any better yet? Hope so.
Why does this not surprise me?
Damian is a great civic leader. Next election, I'm writing him in as mayor.
I definitely agree with Becky. We had too many bars and do-jos, and now we have some beautiful renovation going on. I HEART MY HOME TOWN!
This was a good movie. I watched half of it the night before Rachel was born, and the other half in the hospital afterwards. I think I got more out of it the first time I watched it, before having a baby. :)
