Bear was our 4th adult dog (in addition to over a dozen puppies, over the years, too!) We adopted him after he'd lived with a Pomeranian Breeder for many years.
Bear had to be kept inside or he'd run away. He was a SERIOUS escape artist. He could jump over our 7 foot fence, he'd go through the neighbors doggy door and muzzle up to them in their master bedroom (while they were still sleeping!) . . . OH, that dog was trouble!!
When we moved to our new home, 2 years ago, he ran away the second night. He didn't have his collar on and we've missed him ever since. We adopted our 5th dog, Buddy, about 6 months ago. He's alright. We love him. But he's no Bear. You can see pictures of him Here.
We took Bear to see my sister, Briana, when she lived in Washington a few years ago. I can still close my eyes and smell his special fluffy smell. His fur was so soft and he was so loving. When he played, he would chase you, then stop on a dime and HOP around the backyard like a HUGE bunny. I'm serious, that guy was AGILE! I hope I have some video of that HOPPING business, somewhere!
Our little cuties, Katrina and Ben adored Bear. They still talk about him. They wonder if he's still alive. They talked to me about Bear the other day, in fact. They wanted to know who Bear would live with, when we were all re-united in heaven (since after 2 years, it's obvious he's not coming home anytime soon!) We always dreamed that another family found Bear when he ran away. Hopefully, they were better about training him to stay put.
OK, be ready for some visual treats "Italy Style" tomorow. I'll be thinking of you TODAY, as I eat some Italian Gelato Treats, in your honor!!

I don't think these pictures do Bear justice. When I first saw him I thought he was the hugest dog I ever saw. He reminded me of a horse! But he was a sweet escape artist.
Awww, sorry to hear about your guy getting out and not being recovered. that's sad. We had an escape artist when we were growing up as well. Our dog Sandy was the ultimate in escaping. thing is, he'd trot around for awhile, then come home, ring the door bell with his paw (I'm totally serious about this, he honestly did exactly that) and then we'd let him in when he got back. Thanks for rekindling the memories :).
That is a beautiful dog. Rachel liked him too. She is sitting here with me, pointing at the computer and saying, "Ah" over and over. I think she's saying, "I want one of those!"
I didn't know that you are such a dog person. Bear is a beautiful dog. He looks like the softest thing ever. I am sorry that you never found him. As cute as he was, I am sure he found a new owner.
